GroenLinks-PvdA leader Frans Timmermans has requested a debate about the riots in The Hague. “We will have to talk about this in the Lower House in the very short term,” says Timmermans in a video on X.
In the video, Timmermans draws a comparison between the Netherlands and the United States. “If we let this happen, we slide as America slipped. That is not the side we want to go in the Netherlands.” The party leader refers to the storming of the American Capitol on January 6, 2021. In addition, several people were killed.
Earlier on Saturday, Ismail El Abassi van DENK wrote on X that he wants to debate with the outgoing Minister of Justice and Security Foort van Oosten (VVD). “Extreme right -wing fight teams terrorize The Hague. We should never accept this.”
