Both Bella Hadid and her mother and brother sustained Lyme’s disease years ago. Bella has had Lyme for twelve years, and can normally keep the situation under control. However, it recently went wrong.

In a post, Yolanda talks about the silent suffering of her daughter and the powerlessness she feels as a mother. “As you will understand, it has touched me to my deepest core to see my Bella struggling in silence,” it sounds. “The invisible handicap of chronic neurological lyme is difficult to explain or to understand for others.” But because she has Lyme herself, Yolanda does realize the impact. “It is hard to watch powerlessly. I try to set a good example on our ‘Lyme trip’, but my own pain is not seeing my child that suffers.”
Yolanda has been consciously silent about the condition in recent years to protect himself. “I mainly wanted to recover, instead of being confronted with the opinions of others,” she says.

‘Tireless and courageous’
The former reality star also addresses her daughter in her story. That is how she calls her ‘tireless and courageous’. “There are simply no words for the darkness, the pain and the unknown hell in which you have lived since 2013. You have not really lived, you have learned to exist in the prison of your own paralyzed brain.”
Yolanda ‘prays’ for a quick recovery. “This disease has got us on our knees, but we always get up. We keep fighting for better days, together. I promise that I support every step, no matter how long this takes. I am so proud of the fighter you are.”
