Five days after his third place over the 100 m, the 28-year-old was once again not to be kept over twice the distance in strong 19.52 seconds.
In Tokyo, Lyles prevailed against his compatriot Kenneth Bednarek (19.58) and the young Jamaican Bryan Lvell (19.64).
This time there was only fourth place for Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo (19.65/Botswana).
So far, only world recorders Bolt had brought in World Cup gold over 200 m four times in a row, the sprint legend from Jamaica triumphed from 2009 to 2015.
The new 100 m world champion Oblique Seville was not at the start in Tokyo over half the stadium round.
