Lewis Hamilton is a great car lover. Nevertheless, he sold all of his cars. Just like a famous ex-colleague.

Many Formula 1 stars are known for their private car collections. But Lewis Hamilton goes a different way. Before the Grand Prize in Baku, the seven -time world champion surprised with a clear statement: he sold all of his cars.

The 40-year-old, who currently drives for Ferrari and lives in Monte Carlo, was asked as part of a media round how many vehicles he has privately. Hamilton’s answer: “I don’t have a single car anymore, I sold them all.”

For a long time, the Brit was known for its impressive collection. According to “Auto Motor und Sport”, this included a Mercedes SLS, a GT-R, a G63 6×6 and two AMG One. Classics such as a Shelby Cobra from 1966 and a Mustang GT500 from 1967 are said to have been in his possession. Even a Ferrari Laferrari was apparently part of his collection.

Hamilton had not only used his vehicles for pleasure, but also as a value. Around 2021 he sold his Pagani Zonda for the equivalent of 9.3 million euros. Two years later, the new owner crashed into a wall with the car.

Hamilton had already abolished his private jet in 2019 – also for reasons of environmental protection. Now the Briton goes one step further. His goal: to further reduce your own CO₂ footprint.

With his step, Hamilton is reminiscent of an earlier companion: Sebastian Vettel had also dissolved his private accumulation of cars in 2021 and has been increasingly involved in environmental and climate protection since then.
