The OCAD-which keeps an eye on the terror threat in our country-has increased the threat level to level 2. In the Vuelta, a few stages are disturbed by Pro-Palestinian demonstrators. In Koolskamp, the arrival zone and the entire course are therefore monitored by drones. There are also more agents on and along the course this afternoon.
“I hope it’s an edition like other years,” says secretary Wim David. “For the moment there is nothing but different. There has been a little commotion beforehand. But everything is under control. There has been consultation with the competent authorities, but what has come out remains internal.”
“We organize the competition, the sporting thing is for us. What happens next to it is not our authority,” David concludes.
