After the victory of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, the Belgians are on PSV in the Champions League, which broke on two sides, and now the victory of Club Brugge at AS Monaco in the Champions League now in fifth place of the ranking for this season with 4,900 points.

Portugal, the other rival of the Netherlands in the battle for the coveted sixth place, is even in third place on the ranking of this season with 5,200 points. Benfica disappointed at home against Qarabag (2-3), but Sporting did settle with Kairat (4-1).
The Netherlands, which this week also saw Ajax losing Ajax from Internazionale (0-2), is only twelfth on the ranking of this season with 3.916 points.
The Netherlands still has nice buffer
On the five -year ranking, the Netherlands still has a nice buffer with a point total of 61,866 compared to 57,866 (Portugal) and 55,750 (Belgium). But in view of the huge number of points that the Netherlands will lose for next year’s five -year ranking, if the Dutch record year starts to disappear 21/22, the Netherlands should not behind this year, but rather to end well above Portugal and Belgium to limit the damage.
On the five -year ranking without the 2021/2022 season, the Netherlands with 42,666 points is currently eighth with a large backlog on Portugal (44,550 points) and especially Belgium (48,750 points).

The Netherlands does have the big advantage that this season, in addition to PSV and Ajax, who have heavy programs in the Champions League, four more Dutch teams are active in Europe. Feyenoord, FC Utrecht and Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League and AZ in the Conference League have somewhat manageable programs and can drag in a ditch points for the Netherlands.

The Belgians are at a disadvantage in that area. Due to the elimination of Charleroi and Anderlecht in the preliminary rounds, only RC Genk can take points for Belgium in the Europa League on the Thursday evening. The Limburgers compete against FC Utrecht, among others, a duel that is again very important in view of the coefficient ranking.
Portugal also no longer has the complete occupation. Due to the elimination of Santa Clara, the Portuguese no longer have a participant in the Conference League. AZ can therefore take many important coefficient points for the Netherlands in that tournament.
Portugal still has two participants in the Europa League: FC Porto and Sporting Braga. There are several Dutch-Portuguese confrontations on the program in this tournament, which are of the utmost importance. For example, Go Ahead Eagles will meet Sporting Braga on the last day of play and Feyenoord will kick off the Europa League next week with an away game against the Portuguese. And FC Utrecht receives the FC Porto trained by Francesco Farti Porto in the Galgenwaard.
