The arrival of the seal caused a lot of attention. People flowed out from the offices in the neighborhood to see the animal with their own eyes. “It’s the first time I see a seal,” said a spectator.

Don’t get too close

Because the seal is not injured and seems to be in good health, the seal center does not intervene. They do hope that curious people will stay at a distance.

The Seal Center tells AT5 that it is not unusual that seals swim in inland waterways: “There is a lot of zander and eel swimming, and they like to eat that.” Earlier this month, a seal swam in Utrecht, but according to the spokesperson for the seal center, there is little chance that it will be the same animal. According to the seal center, the seal, based on what they see in the photo, seems healthy.
