In the night of 2 to 3 December 2023, Buren and the police find the man on the street for Monika’s apartment, screaming that he is innocent. He himself called 112, in his own words after a failed resuscitation attempt.
The judges call that story unlikely. They come to the conclusion that Marco S. was at Monika at the time of her death, and no one else. According to the court, she clearly died due to excessive violence. In addition to other things, DNA in the face, the neck and on the victim’s belly point to the man.
The judges blame the Heemskerker that he was not fair in hearing and in the courtroom, changed his story a few times and the fault of another man slide in the shoes.
Marco S. stayed on during the court case, someone else is the perpetrator. That man had passed the apartment earlier in the evening. But according to the judge, camera images and other evidence show that the man had already left Monikas.
