FC Liverpool has won the Champions League in a dramatic way. A fan of the “Reds” apparently also provoked the opposing trainer.

In added time, Virgil van Dijk headed FC Liverpool for 3-2 home win against Atlético Madrid. An electrifying moment on the Anfield Road, after all, Liverpool is one of the top favorites for the title in the Champions League. But in the middle of the jubilation of the home fans there was also an argument between a supporter of the “Reds” and guest coach Diego Simeone.

Burning in anger, Simeone stepped towards the fan, both roared each other, with the Liverpool fan sometimes just laughing. The Argentine coach had to be held back by several folders, trying to get to the man again and again. This had probably insulted him after the 2-2 equalization. After the argument, Simeone saw the red card from the referee team.

The 55-year-old defended himself at the press conference afterwards. He behaved in this way because “I am a person,” he said. “We trainers have no right not to answer or react. And it is never good if we do it. We too can get angry.”

However, Simeone did not want to tell what insults he had to listen to. “I will not go into the type of insults. I don’t want to get involved in this discussion,” he said. “But I have to stay in my place. I know what was going on behind the coaching bench. I can’t solve the problems of society in a press conference. I have to live with it.”

Through the red card, Simeone misses at least the upcoming game in the “premier class”. It takes place on September 30th – and is a home game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
