Two men from the Bergen op Zoom area were driven by their car against a charging station on Wednesday evening and against the facade of a building in Boxtel. The collision at Parkweg followed after the duo tried to get away without paying when purchasing cigarettes.

The pair explained to a present press photographer that they had come to Boxtel to buy cheap cigarettes. But a meeting with the selling party got out of hand. Where they themselves had lost money in an earlier deal, because the sellers left with their money, they now tried to leave the cigarettes without paying.

The sellers of the cigarettes did not pick that up and came after the duo. The driver lost control of the wheel around half past ten and came to a halt with his car against the facade and the post. The two passengers remained unharmed, the car hit Total Loss.

Expensive taxi
After the blow, the men would have been threatened by the other party with a baseball bat. The police were called in and seized the bat. No arrests were made.

Because it was not clear whether the charging station was still under tension, the fire brigade also had to be involved. A fault engineer also came to the scene. Only after it turned out that there was no danger anymore, could the car be removed. It is unclear whether the building, from Zorggroep Elde Maasduinen, has suffered damage.

The duo said on the spot that they had learned their lesson. Without a car, without cigarettes and with a expensive taxi of 240 euros, they went to Bergen op Zoom.
