PSV has started the Champions League with a 1-3 defeat against Union Saint-Gilloise. The Eindhoven team disappointed for their own audience and afterwards there was a flute concert in the Philips Stadium.
Union Saint-Gilloise was the easiest opponent of PSV in the Champions League on paper, which also often plays against European top clubs.
PSV started the match against the leader of Belgium. After six minutes, Ruben van Bommel operated Ismael Saibari, but the deployment of the sliding midfielder went just wide. A few minutes later it was hit on the other side. Ricardo Pepi kicked out of Christian Burgess in his own sixteen -meter area, after which Promise David used the penalty cold -blooded.

PSV’s response followed quickly. Van Bommel was sent into depth after more than fifteen minutes, cut out the right back and shot hard on the bar. In the 22nd minute there was again a danger from PSV side, but Saibari’s shot flew next to the goal of keeper Kjell Scherpen.
PSV created a number of big opportunities, but it played further too moderate and sloppy to put the Belgians under pressure for a long time. To make matters worse, it was the guests who doubled the score after 39 minutes. After loss of Pepi, Anouar Ait El Hadj dribbled forward and in the end there was no Eindhovens leg to prevent the 0-2.
Bosz was undoubtedly very dissatisfied with the game shown and Armando Obispo and Jerdy Schouten left in the dressing room in the break. With Anass Salah-Eddine and Guus Til, the PSV trainer brought two fresh powers. Union chose not to completely dig himself in and was close to the 0-3 via Kevin Rodriguez. Goalkeeper Matej Kovar tapped the shot over his goal.

PSV then showed a better football phase and went hunting for the connection goal. First it was Pepi who came threatening for the Union goal. His shot was not a problem for sharpening. The goalkeeper was defeated after about 55 minutes, but for an open goal Saibari slid a cross next to the post.
For the time being it remained with these opportunities, because the people of Eindhoven missed the power and creativity to make it really difficult for the champion of Belgium. Union had it well done in the back and lurked on the 0-3 and therefore the decision. That third goal came after 80 minutes when Kevin Mac Allister was in the right place to work in a corner.
The final phase became painful for the PSV audience when the Belgians quietly overpowered the ball to each other with loud cheers of the Union supporters. Just before time it became 1-3 by Van Bommel, but a little later it was the Belgians who could celebrate the victory.
