This is apparent from a first prognosis by the ACM. The supervisor determines the rates of network operators annually.
That households will pay more is because network operators have to make large investments to solve problems on the overcrowded power grid.
“The rise in the network rates in the coming years is a direct consequence of the investments that are needed to prepare the electricity and gas networks for the future, says ACM board member Manon Leijten.” We ensure a careful balance sheet: network managers get sufficient resources to make the energy transition possible, while the costs remain fair than necessary. “
Cost of gas network
Earlier research from the ACM shows that the costs for all users of the electricity grid will increase in the coming 25 years from around seven billion to 18 to 25 billion euros per year. This means that the transport costs for electricity for an average household will rise to 600 to 800 euros per year in 2050.
Call for reducing tax on energy bill: ‘Households pay 32 times as much as large -scale users’
Because households and companies are using less and less natural gas, the total costs for maintaining and adjusting the gas network must be distributed over fewer and fewer users. As a result, net rates for natural gas will also rise in the coming years.
Windfall
For large companies that are directly connected to the high -voltage network of Tennet, there will be a windfall next year. They are expected to pay ten to twelve percent less. According to the ACM, this is an incidental decrease thanks to the rise in network use, which means that the permitted income is distributed over more users.
Climate wants the citizen, but the bill? “Profit energy companies must be reduced!”
In October the ACM publishes the tariff proposals of the network operators and it definitively sets the rates in November. It also says it is working on a new method for determining rates, which will start after 2026.
