Between nausea and boredom: that was Nina Chuba time on “The Dream Ship”.
Nina Chuba is 26 years old today and one of the most successful musicians in Germany. With the upcoming release of her second album I love myself, I love myself (2025) she is currently the most popular artist in German pop. But she was not always known for her voice. In childhood, she played a role of the popular Hamburg investigators “The Peppercorns” and has tried to advance her career in different projects since then. So also in the well-known German NDR television series “The dream ship- Hawaii“. Now she has spoken in a new interview about the experiences of time.

“Dream ship”: between Kafka and Karaoke
2018, four years before her first major feature on province of the album Zorn and Liebe (2018), she played a role in Germany’s most famous “dream ship”. In an interview with the Swiss “Blick”, the artist reported on the one -month shoot on the cruise, nausea and Kafkaesker boredom.
She was on the cruise ship for two months, one of them on a trip. As the “Wild Berry Lillet” singer told, the food on board must have been more than one-sided for her as a vegan and because of the syringes that she got against her niggling every day, she spent most of the time in bed and watched the same film. “It was as if I was caught in a Kafka novel,” said Nina Chuba. When asked whether she would describe the time there as strenuous, she said: “Not exhausting, but it was absurd”.
In her free time, when she was not traveling alone in Japan or rising a mountain in Mexico, she spent her time in the lower part of the cruise ship, with the Filipinos there and sang karaoke with them. “When I told the other people on the screen of my day, everyone thought I was crazy. But it was still fun,” said Chuba.
Nina Chuba reveals: No acting comeback planned
Did she want to go back to acting? “No, that feels strange now,” said the 26-year-old in an interview. “I’m already Nina Chuba, that’s a kind of role”. With a bourgeois name, the singer Nina Kaiser is called that her pseudonym serves as a performative character with which she can live out on stage, which is happy to separate in private. “I think it’s good to have the opportunity to leave everything away after the shows, take out the hair parts and be the normal Nina again”.

On September 19, her second studio album will appear, I love myself. Sometimes full of energy, sometimes with quieter tones, sometimes confident, sometimes uncertain, the album not only addresses freedom and tornness, but also self -determination and departure.
