Tesla starts with the update 2025.32.3 A “frontal Airbag system enhancement”, in which front cameras are to anticipate collisions using Teslas Vision AI and trigger the airbags before actual impact, instead of acting reactively as previously using an acceleration and pressure sensors, the company explains in the vision instructions. Tesla describes this as a previously uniquely integrated system that should make vehicles more secure over time.
Compatibility and market launch
According to Tesla Oracle, only vehicles with the new HW4/AI4 autopilot computer receive the feature. All vehicles from January 2023 are affected. Critics, on the other hand, argue that the sole support on camera data without the intervention of radar or lidar carries new risks.
