The planned performance of the British Rap-Punk group Bob Vylan in Poppodium 013 in Tilburg Tuesday is canceled. The organization decided that in response to the statements that the artist made on Saturday evening during a show in Paradiso in Amsterdam.

During the performance in Paradiso, the British duo shouted Leuzen as ‘Death to the IDF’, that is the Israeli army. They also called the murdered radical-right American activist Charlie Kirk a piece of shit and would have called “fuck the fascists, fuck the Zionists. Go find them on the street”.

013 believes that Bob Vylan trivializes the murder and called on the public to look for political opponents on the street. “Although we understand that the statements were made in the context of punk and activism, and that the reporting on this is sometimes less nuanced than what has actually happened, we think that these new expressions are going too far,” says 013. “They no longer fall within the limits of what we can offer a stage.”

013 understands anger
At the end of June, Bob Vylan made a stir for the first time at the British Music Festival Glastonbury, where he also made those statements during a performance. The British police then started an investigation and in the United States the punk group is no longer welcome. A month later, 013 announced the show. At the time, the stage said it would understand the anger of the artist about the genocidal violence of the state of Israel in Gaza.

“013 wanted to send a signal that Gaza deserves all the attention and that indignation about it may also have a place on a stage. We are still standing for that. The statements made by Bob Vylan in Paradiso last night are a clear limit for us,” she says now. “We strongly reject the trivialization of political murder and calling people ‘on the street’.”
