Joeri Cornelis (49) from Frituur De Zout Grain in Merelbeke-Melle is officially the new world record holder ‘Frieten Baking’. The previous record, which was 127 hours and 15 minutes, he broke on Sunday afternoon with loud shouts of spectators. Yet he does not want to give up yet: Joeri continues to bake until Monday afternoon and wants to bring the record to 150 hours.
