FC Ingolstadt continues to stumble through the season in the 3rd league. Now the trainer is becoming more and more the focus.

The frustration was clear to her: After the final whistle, Sabrina Wittmann didn’t stay alone for long. The trainer of FC Ingolstadt gathered her team on the lawn and loudly loud her anger – the failed start of the season led the club to a low point.

In the home game against the previously pointless 1. FC Schweinfurt, the “Schanzer” suffered a 2: 3 after a 2-1 break. The result: After five match days, the third division team is in 18th place with only three points. The pressure on Wittmann is growing.

The 34-year-old, who is the first woman to train a men’s professional team in German football, experience her most difficult phase to date in her second season. Three draws, two defeats – the club continues to wait for the first victory. Instead of playing in the upper half of the table, Ingolstadt is stuck in the table cellar.

After the game, Wittmann was disappointed: “The frustration sits relatively deep,” she admitted: “But we do well to get the emotions aside.”

The view is now aimed at the upcoming tasks. In the English week, it could already be decided whether Wittmann is still sitting on the FCI bank. On Wednesday (7 p.m.) it goes away against TSV Havelse, on Saturday the home game against SV Wehen Wiesbaden will follow.

The game against Schweinfurt had initially given hope. Ingolstadt took the lead, but missed the 3-1. After the interim compensation, the hosts played over the number for over 30 minutes after a dismissal for Schweinfurt – but shortly before the end the decisive 2: 3 (87th) fell. Even a ten -minute added time did not bring a point. “So we stand there with zero points and that hurts extremely,” said Wittmann.
