From October 3 (Friday) to October 5 (Sunday), the first German Mubi festival will take place in Berlin in 2025. In Silent Green Kulturquartier (Courtstrasse 35, 13347 Berlin) there are film screenings with star guests, conversations, live music and get-together.
The first edition of the Mubi firm In the capital Berlin, a highlight is also set. There is the German premiere of the bizarre Heist film “The Mastermind” by Kelly Reichardt. The director (“First Cow”, “Certain Women”) personally presents her film with Josh O’Connor in the leading role.
Director Akinola Davies Jr. will also personally present his film “My Father’s Shadow” in Silent Green Kulturquartier. Like Reichardt’s “The Mastermind”, this ran in the program of the last Cannes year.
Another highlight is the presentation of Paolo Sorrennino’s “La Grazia”. The portrait of a fictional head of state (played by Toni Servillo) recently opened the Film Festival in Venice. Servillo received the prize as the best main actor.
With the “Die daughter” of Mascha Schilinski (also personally) as well as “No Bears” (Jafar Panahi) and “April” from the Georgian director Dea Kulumbegashvili, there are other films to discover. Kulumbegashvili also asks the questions of interested viewers.
“Twin Peaks” on the big canvas
Anyone who always wanted to see “Twin Peaks” on the screen now gets the chance (again). At the Mubi Fest, both “Twin Peaks – The Film” (Fire Walk with me) and the pilot sequence of the first season can be seen. A conversation with Kelly Reichardt and Wim Wenders is also recorded for the Mubi Podcast. The German cult director will also personally present a film of his “Favorite Movies on Mubi” list.
The little ones are also taken care of: at the Mubi festival there are numerous short films from the series “Short Films Big Names” and “Letter Encounter” of the Arthaus Streamer. There are films by Bong Joon Ho, David Cronenberg and Sofia Coppola,
