From the workshop to studies
Since she wanted to continue to stay at work, she was looking for a flexible form of study-and randomly came across the online study program of the TH Lübeck. I live very village between Hamburg and Bremen. I looked there first and thought I had to somehow create to study. Industrial engineering online in Lübeck was the perfect combination of what I already knew.
Studied next to the job
Schlingmann describes the entry into the online studies as challenging but feasible. In the beginning I was perhaps a bit superior and combined a full -time job and study. That was too much in the long run. I then allowed myself to go down to 20 hours a week.
Flexibility is a decisive advantage for you: You can put together individually which modules you use when. It is sometimes difficult for working people to get further training, further training or further training. I can combine work and study online.
Discipline, motivation – and good reasons
Schlingmann does not deny that online studies also require self-motivation. It is important that you keep realizing why you are studying. The school used to be something that you just had to do. Today I am in my professional life and find out what education can actually be
says Schlingenmann.
Their reasons for their high motivation: I just love learning. I just want to test again where my academic limits are. I want to do the bachelor, the master – and maybe even do your doctorate.
For this she accepts a lot: Sometimes I learn at home with my books on vacation instead of lying on the beach. But it’s worth it because it continues me personally and professionally.
Stronger together
The exchange with fellow students from whom have become very good friends is particularly important to her: You walk through together
Schlesmann summarizes the advantage of group work. It was important for me to learn together. Not losing the connection, but simply staying with it is important.
The few presence days in Lübeck also use them intensively. They are worth gold because you can see yourself live – at the latest in the examination situations, the moments of success then welded together.
View into the future
Schlingmann sees great opportunities for her professional career. In conservative companies in particular, study qualifications are often a prerequisite for getting into management positions. I see myself as a person who would like to be the contact person in the company and who can give competent answers.
An example of this was provided by a company plan game during your studies: We have managed a fictional company in the team, made decisions, watched how we can optimize it and ultimately even achieved a triple-a rating. It was really fun.
Recommendation with reprint
After four semesters, Schmelsmann takes a clear balance: I can highly recommend an online study-especially for working people who want to be more. Even if you find out that it doesn’t fit, you have at least tried it. And if you realize that it is exactly the right thing – like me – then it opens up an incredible number of options.
