Post-rock pioneers of the 90s: This is tortoise
When the four gentlemen John Herndon, Douglas McCombs, John Mcentire and Dave Pajo published their second album “TNT” six years after the band was founded, the music world had not yet been heard. Post-Rock was the new term, the flagship of which the group and its purely instrumental low frequency sound became.
Tortoise stands for moderate pace and a sound bath of various instruments – two basses, three drums, vibraphone and marimbas. In the following years, tortoise navigated between rhythm and jazz sounds and tended into more electronic elements.
