German international mourns Charlie Kirk
11.09.2025 – 8:07 p.m.Reading time: 2 min.

In a contribution on social media, Felix Nmecha expresses his sympathy. It is not the first time that a post from the BVB star caused a sensation.
“Rest in peace with the Lord,” Nmecha wrote in his Instagram story about a photo kirks kept in black and white. “Such a sad day. May the Lord of the Kirk family stand.”
In another post, NMECHA became even clearer: “Jesus is the way, the truth and life,” wrote the 24-year-old in English. “Celebrating the murder of a father and husband, a man who is peaceful for his beliefs and values, is really angry and shows how much we really need Jesus Christ.” And further: “May God show grace and open your eyes and hearts in Jesus’ names.”
However, it is not the first time that NMECHA causes a stir with posts on social media. As early as the summer of 2023, when BVB signed the midfielder from VfL Wolfsburg for almost 30 million euros, there was turmoil among the Dortmund fans. Reason: The strictly religious Christian had shared contributions on his Instagram profile, which were classified by several sides than homophobic and hostile to queer. He later contradicted corresponding allegations in a longer post.
NMECHA himself explained that he thought that “a few things were taken from the context”. “I am of course Christian, but I love everyone. I don’t discriminate. I hope the fans will give me the chance that we get to know each other and see that I am hopefully a great person” (You can read more about that here).
U.S. activist Kirk had generated discussions with LGBTQ and converted, numerous statements by the American could also be interpreted as racist and conspiracy theory.
