According to Toni Kroos, the German national team is currently not part of the top of the world. The DFB legend for the 2026 World Cup does not see very black.

“At the moment we don’t have a pot of 50 top international players, that’s so. It will be very tight about international class,” said the 2014 world champion in the podcast “simply loops”, which he operates together with his brother Felix.

At the start of the World Cup qualification, the DFB team had a bitter 0: 2 bankruptcy in Slovakia. The following 3: 1 victory against Northern Ireland was not the yellow of the egg.

“If you had asked me about players from Slovakia or Northern Ireland that I know, it would be exactly zero players,” said Kroos. “Together or not, it just has to be enough against these teams and look better.”

The 35-year-old added: “We must not forget that we are currently not one of those who are allowed to have the greatest ambitions because others are simply better. Nevertheless, I think that if you can choose from the best German players, and everyone is fit that we still have absolutely our strengths.”

National team: Toni Kroos looks ahead

Important supports such as Jamal Musiala (FC Bayern) or Kai Havertz (FC Chelsea) are currently not fit. Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund) also lacks a so -called “mentality player”.

“It is the case that you are currently miles away from talking about the world champion title,” said Kroos. “But: The World Cup was not this summer either, but only next summer. Stand now we are miles away and really not good. But in summer – let the right players get fit.”

Unlike before home European Championships 2024, Kroos will no longer help to create the change in the DFB team. In summer he had ended his brilliant career after 114 international matches and more than 450 missions for Real Madrid and countless titles.
