“It’s time for change,” Proud explained his choice on his Instagram account. “I’m going to stop traditional swimming to participate in the Enhanced Games. I step into a world that turns everything we know about performance upside down, and get the chance to push the limits of human capacity with the resources and possibilities of our time.”
‘Olympic Games on Doping’ Wil ‘redefining the boundaries of man’ and attracts athletes with tasty money
The British swimming union Aquatics GB said that it was ‘incredibly disappointed’ that Proud chooses to come up with the controversial ‘doping tournament’. “Aquatics GB, together with our partners, fully supports the values and principles of clean sport and condemns Ben’s decision in the strongest possible terms,” said a statement.
The umbrella sports association UK Sport stated that he will urgently see if Proud is still eligible for financial support. “It is clear, however, that every violation of the anti -doping rules is contrary to the policy that each athlete must adhere to to receive financing from UK Sport,” said UK Sport.
Proud strives for clean sport
Proud said to the BBC That he sees the traditional sport and the enhanced games (reinforced games) as “two very different entities” and that with his participation he does not undermine the pursuit of clean sport.
The first edition is planned for May 2026. On the agenda there are competitions in swimming, athletics and weightlifting. There is a lot of money for the participants.
