The work was painted by Rubens at the height of his talent and was authenticated by professor Nils Büttner. Büttner is a specialist in German, Flemish and Dutch art in the 15th and 16th centuries and chairman of Rubenianum, an Antwerp organization near the former studio of the master, who is exclusively involved in the oeuvre of Rubens.
“This is the very first beginning of baroque painting. This painting is a true creed and a beloved subject for Rubens, a Protestant who converted to Catholicism,” continued Osenat, who emphasizes that the work is in a “very good state.” “The authenticity of the work was determined after long -term research and technical examinations such as X -rays and pigment analysis,” it sounds.
