Recommendations of the Editorial team
With songs such as “Blueprint” and “Boy on the Beach”, the Rainbirds won the call as a good German indie in the late 1980s. You can hardly imagine, but that was a rare thing in the time. Founded in 1986 in West Berlin and named after a Tom Waits song, the debut “Rainbirds” was a success the following year.
Now the reunited Rainbirds will go on tour in the coming year under the motto “Through the Web of Time – 40 Years Rainbirds”. The foundation members Katharina Franck (guitar, vocals), Michael Beckmann (bass), as well as the later Ulrike Haage (piano), guitarist Werner Neumann and Dominique “Gaga” Ehlert to the drums. Founding member Wolfgang Glum and Rodrigo González also “honor the honor” for the anniversary concert series, which includes seven albums-from debut until 2014 to the “Yonder” published in 2014, as is still somewhat formulated in the press release.
Rod, for example, plays along with a certain other band – Now the opportunity would soon be available to see him on a smaller stage. The only question is how extensive.
Voices of the band for the anniversary
“Rainbirds were a highly heterogeneous group from the start, driven by a young woman, from me, who was looking for her allies. That was without me already knowing the blueprint for my life,” says Katharina Franck in allusion to the band hit.
Beckmann: “It means a lot to me to be on stage with the Rainbirds after 40 years … since my last concert with the rainbirds in 1989 in London, this story has never really felt over.”
Ulrike Haage: “I am very happy to revive this chapter again with the Rainbirds. To play this music live again is like a dialogue with my former self.”
Rodrigo González: “To date, I only remember the separation 36 years ago. With my appearance in the original line -up, I would like to leave this dark phase behind and replace it with fun and joy in the music. It is my wish to close the circle and leave the past behind me to celebrate music with the Rainbirds.”
