It is too early to assess the talks between Russia and the United States on security guarantees. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov, reports Interfax…
“It’s too early,” he replied when asked about the Kremlin’s assessment of the first round of consultations and its premature.
Previously, Peskov said that the “time for assessments” would come a few hours after the end of the negotiations. According to him, the first assessment should have been made by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov. At the briefing following the meeting, he described the conversation as difficult and professional, adding that the parties did not try to embellish anything or “avoid any sharp corners.”
Ryabkov demanded “reinforced concrete” guarantees that Ukraine will not join NATO
In addition, Peskov reported TASSthat the Kremlin has no plans for organizing new contacts between the presidents of Russia and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden.
