Then it suddenly hooks at the Norris stop, with a technical breakdown it takes unnecessarily long-and he only comes back on the track in no time behind Piatri.
The team then reports to Piatri: “Oscar, that’s a bit like Hungary last year. We came to a stop for reasons in this order. And further: “I don’t understand. But yes, I’ll do it.” His racing engineer sparks: “I know it hurts. But afterwards you still have five laps to overtake him.”
After that, Piatri let the team rival through, but nothing more became from the planned overtaking maneuvers in the last five rounds.
Annoying for both drivers of the traditional racing team – because Norris couldn’t do anything for the mistake at pit stop, and Piatri, in turn, had not caught second place in a unfair way, but benefited from this mistake.
At the press conference after the race, Piatri was already more insightful: “Today it was a fair inquiry. Lando qualified in front of me, the whole race was in front of me and lost this place without his mistake.” And further: “I said what I said on the radio, but when I got the second inquiry, I don’t face the team.”
