The Handelsverbund Intersport Germany presented a new partnership with the Dutch recycling company Fast Feet Grinded on Thursday. As part of a pilot project, it can be announced: Shoes used in 75 Intersport branches since April to add them to be used.
“The collected shoes are broken down into individual material components by Fast Feet Grinded using an innovative process, including rubber, foams and textiles,” explained Intersport in a message. “These components are then processed and used for the production of new products – for example for shop facilities, as insulation materials, sports floors or new shoe components.” Since the start of the pilot phase, 600 pairs of shoes from the intersing dealers involved have already been “brought into the recycling cycle”, the company said.
Henriette Tesch, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Intersport Deutschland eG, described the background of the project. “We would like to offer practical solutions that make a specific contribution to resource conservation and at the same time easy to use for the customer,” she said in a statement. “Cooperation with Fast Feet Grinded shows how material cycles can be integrated in the trade in the trade – measurable, transparent and practical.”
