Lady Gaga provided a spectacular goth show at the MTV’s Awards show. Look here.

Lady Gaga presented a concise recording of her “Mayhem Ball” tour show at the MTV Video Music Awards 2025 (VMAS) less than 24 hours after her acclaimed appearance in Madison Square Garden at the MTV Video Music Awards 2025 (VMAS), recorded on September 6th in the MSG. So she did not appear live on site, but sent the segment in advance to the UBS Arena in New York as recorded performance.

Two songs, two looks-a real goth production

The live recording started with “Abracadabra”. Lady Gaga stood there in an impressive red ball gown and called for a dramatic motto: “The category is dance or die.” She was surrounded by dancers: inside.

In the middle of the show, Gaga switched to a white, Victorian outfit, wore doll’s make-up and for the first time presented her new song “The Dead Dance”.

First in “Wednesday”, now with the VMAs

Together with her crew, she performed the dark choreography of Parris Goebel. The setting was strongly reminiscent of the aesthetics of the associated music video, which was staged by Tim Burton. The song is part of the soundtrack for the second horror series relay of “Wednesday” (in which Gaga also plays along with Jenna Ortega) and also appears on the new edition of her current album Mayhem.

Dominance in the nominations and awards

Lady Gaga led the VMAS 2025 with a total of twelve nominations-more than any other act at this year’s MTV awards. In the end, she received four prizes: “Artist of the Year”, “Best Cooperation” for “The With A Smile” together with Bruno Mars, as well as trophies in the technical categories “Best Director” (at “Abracadabra”) and “Best Art Direction”-(also “Abracadabra”).

At the same time, Gaga’s world tour “The Mayhem Ball” runs, which she leads from the United States across Europe to Japan and Australia. The underlying album Mayhem is considered her most personal work so far. In an interview with “Rolling Stone” in March 2025, Gaga described it as a musical journey through chaos, love and self -knowledge.
