The Colombian authorities released 27 of the 72 soldiers who were imprisoned in the southwest of the country. The soldiers were kidnapped on Sunday afternoon due to unnamed perpetrators during an operation in the Micay Canyon in the Cauca department, a region that is under the administration of a splitting off the guerrilla movement FARC and where a lot of coca production takes place.
