The lunar eclipse started last night at 5.27 pm and would reach its peak just after the moon rise at 8.12 pm. The red glow of the so -called blood moon would be the best to be seen just after sunset. The clouds only threw a spanner in the works and before that the moon remained hidden behind clouds on the horizon.

Shortly after 9 p.m. the lunar eclipse was clearly visible in many places in Noord-Holland. The eclipse was already over its peak at the time, but the orange color with dark haze in the shade was still clearly visible.
