Yuki Tsunoda will steer the Red Bull at least until the end of the Formula 1 season, an early separation of the racing team has recently become public. Before the Grand Prix of Italy, however, it was again noticed how big the distance to his team -mate Max Verstappen, who sensationally won the qualifying on Saturday. Nico Rosberg is amazed at the big gap.

According to Formula 1 expert Nico Rosberg, the distance of more than seven tenths of a second between Yuki Tsunoda and Max Verstappen is far too big. “This is inexplicable,” said the 40-year-old in his function as an observer for the British broadcaster “Sky Sports” after Monza’s hunting time.

Rosberg added: “I don’t understand because Yuki is a great driver. He knows how to control a racing car. How is it possible that it is once again so far behind?” It is “crazy” that you just don’t find a solution at Red Bull “.

“What I hear is that his car is not 100 percent the same as that of Max Verstappen,” the ex-Mercedes pilot gave an insight: “But that doesn’t make up seven tenths, but maybe a tenth.”

The Japanese started the Formula 1 year as a pilot from sister racing stable Racing Bulls. After only two races, however, he was promoted, Liam Lawson had to take a place instead. But the 25-year-old did not know how to convince at the side of Max Verstappen.

A “driving genius”, tsunoda in the “upward trend”

In 13 races at the top team, he only collected nine points, he achieved his best placements (each ninth) in Bahrain and recently in the Netherlands. In qualifying, Tsunoda also did not approach his team -mate’s lap times.

He had burned a brilliant performance on the asphalt again on Saturday: Verstappen flown to pole position on the last round of qualifying. Red Bull’s motorsport consultant Helmut Marko then praised “Sky”: “Max gives very precise instructions to his engineer, where and how hundredths and thousands of seconds can be brought out. He then implements it without errors. Ultimately, it can only implement a driving genius like him.”

Despite the big difference in the team, Yuki Tsunoda will steer the second Red Bull at least until the end of the year, as team manager Laurent Mekies recently confirmed.

Another driver change “during the season” is not planned, according to Christian Horner’s successor. Helmut Marko attested the Japanese, who was ninth on Sunday (from 3:00 p.m. in the live ticker sport.de) goes, after all, an “upward trend”.
