The 40-year-old is involved in a chain of kebab shops with his name. Now a branch has closed – it’s not the first. A speaker explains the reasons for the step and makes an announcement.

The door remains, the grill is out: in Hürth at the gates of Cologne, another branch by Lukas Podolski’s kebab chain was closed under the name “Mangal”. The location on Luxemburger Straße has been closed for around ten days-less than three years after the opening opening by the ex-international himself. The fluorescent sign has already been removed. This is reported by the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”. Podolski, who is currently playing for Górnik Zabrze in his birthland Poland, has been involved in the “Mangal” chain since 2014.

According to a spokesman, the reason for the end is the lease. “The building should be demolished, so that we could not keep this successful location.” Mayor Hans-Josef Lang (CDU) confirmed: Instead of the old building, a new project is now planned: a residential and commercial building with up to five floors.

Not only in Hürth is the end of Döner and Dürüm from Podolski’s shops. The branch in Pulheim-Stommeln was also closed in the summer-also in the Rhein-Erft district, located northwest of Cologne. The management was based on the location of the location with a new strategic orientation.

“We open shops at high -frequency places. Always with sufficient seats and a real feel -good atmosphere,” says the company side. “Some smaller shops no longer fit into this strategy.” Three new branches are planned in the Rhein-Erft district for 2026.
