Sabalenka, who had previously lost the finals in Melbourne and Paris this year, secured their fourth Grand Slam title at the Australian Open (2023, 2024) and 2024 in New York and remains undisputed number one in the world rankings. Despite the defeat, Anisimowa improves fifth in the world rankings.

Power tennis of both – more errors from Anisimowa

Sabalenka began the first point in front of 24,000 spectators under the closed roof of Artur Ashe Stadium in Flushing Meadows on its own serve and did the first point with a cross-forehand. But with her power back and because Sabalenka had a impact and forehand error, Anisimowa got two break balls. Ultimately, however, the title of the defending champion came well enough and Sabalenka took 1-0 in the lead.

A match with a strong power tennis developed. Both players went on the offensive and looked for the decision on the first opportunity. The two opponents gave themselves nothing. Anisimowa was 0: 2 behind, but, unlike Wimbledon, was not at all impressed and won the next three games with two breaks.

Sabalenka finds stability faster

Sabalenka seemed struck, mainly had problems with her first serve and then came under pressure in the second against the hard blows of Anisimowa. Nevertheless, the Belarusin came back to 3: 3 with a break. Towards the end of the sentence, Sabalenka found her rhythm and won the next break to 5: 3 after two double errors by the American and a “forced error”.

With a strong service game, the 27-year-old secured the first set after 38 minutes with 6: 3 and set the title on the title. Anisimowa scored more direct points in the first round, but also had 14: 3 the significantly higher number of the “unforced errors”.

Aryna Sabalenka remained the more constant player in the first sentence and hardly allowed herself a mistake.

Anisimowa fights, Sabalenka doesn’t let go

But the 24-year-old American showed that she learned from the Wimbledon debacle. Despite constant problems with the surcharge, Anisimowa bravely continued to play forward and developed 1-0 in the second set. But Sabalenka no longer gave up, put the American under constant pressure and also freed herself from difficult situations.

Even when she lost her serve game to 3: 3 to zero, the world ranking listen simply continued, the re-break secured directly to 4: 3. Ultimately, Anisimowa lacked stability to permanently put Sabalenka under pressure. Nevertheless, she came back again. When Sabalenka hit the match win and got the breakball against him with a granted butterball ball instead of match ball, Anisimowa came back to 5: 5.

Amanda Anisimova, born in New Jersey, was about to turn the second set in front of a home crowd.

Sabalenka with iron nerves in the tiebreak

A strong phase of the American followed. Anisimowa played out the points with full risk and won the third game in a row to 6: 5. Sabalenka kept her serve and so it went into the tiebreak. The favorite had the better nerves. She quickly pulled it to 6: 1 and transformed five match balls after 1:33 hours.

Sabalenka converted the third when Anisimowa, after the Belarus’s strong serve, converted the return. Sabalenka thus won her 19th Tiebreak in a row and the US Open 2025.
