Courageous guests demand FCB women
FC Bayern women started the season last weekend with a sovereign 4-2 win in the Supercup against VfL Wolfsburg. Against Leverkusen, the first victory in the first league game should also follow against the record backdrop in the Munich Arena.
However, the Munich women started the game much more reserved than last weekend. The guests from Leverkusen played courageously – a big challenge for the FCB women.
It was almost no offensive for Lea Schüller and Co. Schüller had the best chance right from the start (2nd min.): She initially failed due to opponent Claudia Wenger, then the ball landed in the outdoor network. It stayed with a 0-0 break.
Gilles and Bühl make league start perfect
In the second half, the team of the new Bayern coach José Barcala came into play much better. A few minutes after the announcement of the new spectator record in the stadium, the Munich women made the league start perfect: a corner kick by Klara Bühl found Vanessa Gilles on the long post, who headed for the 1-0 lead.
The Leverkuseners were visibly shocked, the short unrest used Klara Bühl ice cold: she converted a strong cross from Jovana Damnjanović to 2-0. Within two minutes, the Munich women brought the game completely under their control and secured the first victory of the new Bundesliga season.
