Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly will be preserved by 2028. The French racing team announced the contract extension with the 29-year-old on the 5th anniversary of Gasly’s only Grand Prix victory in Monza. Gasly has been driving for Alpine since 2023.
He is looking forward to the “long -term future” at Alpine, said Gasly, who formulated ambitious goals: “I would also like to be here in the coming years and achieve our common goal: win races and world championships. We are all in the same boat, and I look forward to writing on this special story.”
Gasly celebrated his Formula 1 debut at Team Toro Rosso in 2017, and he contested a total of 168 Grand Prix. In 2020 in Monza he achieved his only win.
So far he has shown two podium places in the alpine car-but this season he is still waiting for a top result, Alpine is currently the last of the team World Cup.
A completely new regulations will take place in the coming season, “we are well prepared for this new era,” said Alpine’s Formula 1 boss Flavio Briatore, who attributes Gasly to a leadership role. Franco Colapinto, currently the second driver at Alpine, should have no future with the team.
At least in theory, this leaves the door open to Mick Schumacher, who is currently competing for Alpine in the long-distance World Cup WEC and hopes for a Formula 1 comeback.
