Almost 7 billion euros-the clubs of the top 5 leagues have spent on transfers this summer. A new record in the history of European football. The Premier League was largely responsible for this, the “few” invested the Ligue 1. The Bundesliga also set a new record, but still lost value – from EUR 4.59 billion to EUR 4.31 billion.

The English Oberhaus invested 3.59 billion, the A 1.19 billion series, the Bundesliga 851 million, Laliga 682 million and the Ligue 1 662 million euros. This results in 6.97 billion euros if you add up the classic period (July 1 to September 1) and the extra transfer window before the club world championship (June 1 to 10). The previous record value from the summer of 2023 was far exceeded at 5.9 billion euros.

The most expensive player in the alternating period was Alexander Isak with 145 million euros, who is now the most expensive access to Premier League history. FC Liverpool has invested 483 million euros in a summer.

Highest Bundesliga editions at Bayer Leverkusen

At first glance, the Bundesliga also exceeded 763 million euros from the summer of 2019 the maximum value – around 90 million euros more are now. At 198 million euros for 16 new ones, most of them are eliminated on Bayer 04 Leverkusen, which after the departure of coach Xabi Alonso lost numerous top performers and almost revoked the squad. In a summer, a German club has never leafed more for entrances (for expenditure statistics). Bayer also earned 230 million euros with its departures, as a reinfestation consequently less than came in. This is noticeable in the squad value, which was 567 million euros in mid -June and is now 390 million euros.

Despite the new spending record, this also applies to the Bundesliga. 851 million euros in transfer expenses are offset by 1.04 billion in transfer income. There was only a larger transfer plus in 2023-in the past six summers, the Bundesliga only invested once more than it took. The most recent transfer window ends the Bundesliga with a loss of around 280 million euros (for statistics), while the Premier League (+980 million €), which was able to increase series A (+290 million €) and Laliga (+200 million €). The Ligue 1 (-150 million €) also dropped as a total value of all 18 squads.

A new spending record was also achieved worldwide – and some transfer windows are still open. The total amount was as of September 2 (5:30 p.m.) to EUR 10.23 billion, while the previous record, also from the summer of 2023, was 8.85 billion euros. After the top 5 leagues, the Saudi Pro League was 474 million euros, followed by the Liga Portugal with EUR 337 million and the Süper Lig with EUR 327 million. In Saudi Arabia, you can still buy until September 11th in Turkey until September 12th.
