Swiss international giant: “Take the momentum from the European Championship to Eintracht”

At the European Football European Championship in his own country, Nadine has gripped huge. In the new season, the Swiss also wants to start at Eintracht.

Nadine Riesen was only a replacement at Eintracht Frankfurt for a long time, but at the 2025 football European Championship, she drew attention to herself as a national player in Switzerland. In an interview with HR sports, the 25-year-old rail player talks about her special EM goal, her role in Eintracht and the Champions League-Los Real Madrid.

hessenschau.de: Nadine giant, how would you describe your summer in one word?

Nadine giants: breathtaking.

hessenschau.de: A real hype was created in Switzerland during the home European Championship. How do you look back on the tournament?

Giant: I am very grateful. I think we were able to achieve a lot as a team what we wanted to return to Switzerland. And also the atmosphere, the mood, the fans – it all made it unique and unforgettable.

hessenschau.de: And they had their special moment in the opening game. How was it to shoot the leadership against Norway in the sold -out stadium in Basel?

Giant: I was just incredibly grateful that we could celebrate such a moment with the whole stadium and all teammates. And of course it was all the better that I was allowed to score a goal.

hessenschau.de: You went on vacation with some teammates in the quarter -finals. How do you process an EM with so many impressions?

Giant: I noticed after the first day that I miss the teammates. And we said that we should actually celebrate such a tournament properly, but we can also have a nice end with the team. So it was optimal that we – not all, but some – were able to fly together to Spain.

hessenschau.de: So far, they have not been a regular player at Eintracht. Did she surprise her role at the European Championship?

Giant: I just knew that I wanted to go full throttle. Then it is up to the trainer whether she wants to take me with her at all or not. And in the end it was enough for the starting eleven. So I was very grateful for the trust she gave me and wanted to give it back all the more. I am very confident that I can take the momentum from the European Championship to Eintracht.

hessenschau.de: You were quite offensive in the national team. What is your favorite position?

Giant: I think I like to be defensive. But with the offensive thoughts, just aggressive and offensive. I think I like to do that. But still defend. My willingness to run is my strength, I would say. If I can put them on the square, I feel very comfortable.

hessenschau.de: How do you see your role at Eintracht in the coming season?

Giant: Of course I very much hope that I will get more playing time. That I can also implement and show my experiences and self -confidence from the EM here. I just want to continue to go full throttle. And in the end we see where it is sufficient.

hessenschau.de: There was A greater change in Eintracht Frankfurt women. With what feeling does the team go into the new season?

Giant: Of course it is all very new with the many players. But I am very, very confident. We all took up as much as possible. And I think many feel very comfortable. You can also see that in training and in the test games. We also have a good atmosphere next to the square.

hessenschau.de: How big are the gap between Eintracht and Wolfsburg and Bavaria?

Giant: I would say very small. Last season was very lacking in getting the fixed international place. We have set ourselves the goal that we go full throttle again – every player for themselves. Each possible game get three points, score a lot of goals and hardly get any.

hessenschau.de: Keyword internationally: What did you think when The Los Real Madrid for the Champions League qualification came?

Giant: I said from the beginning that real will come. Why take an easy way if it can be difficult? We like that very much. We want to measure ourselves internationally with the best, so is real perfect. And I think Real is not looking forward to playing against us either.

hessenschau.de: You had a very experienced trainer with the national team with Pia Sundhage. What can you take away from her, also for the tasks in the Bundesliga?

Giant: It is important that you harmonize well with the team, then it also works in the field. The EM itself gave us a lot of confidence, we want to implement that on the pitch. We have some national players from Germany and Switzerland. We all know what it is like to have a full stadium – we want to achieve that again for Eintracht.

hessenschau.de: Your contract expires next summer. What is the goal – stay in Frankfurt in the long term or dare something new? Are there any plans?

Giant: No, not at all. I now focus on the start of the season, want to go full throttle and then let’s see what it looks like.
