Westend’s house project did not go, as Jare Tiihonen hoped.
Jare Tiihonen fulfilled her long-term dream in 2017 as her rap career Cheek was coming to an end. Tiihonen acquired the French Buldog Otus.
Tiihonen, who lived in the penthouse in Töölö, came up with that Otus needs his own yard. This was a starting point for Tiihonen’s house project. When no suitable house was found, Tiihonen decided to build one on a plot he found in Westend. More specifically, he decided to build three houses, one of which he would stay. He would sell two other houses.
Tiihonen thought he was going to win well. The opposite happened. Costs increased much above budgeted. Tiihonen opens his house project Oskari Island in the new book written JHT – Mission or Peace (WSOY 2025).
– I had calculated that the whole project would cost me about € 6.5 million. In retrospect, it would have been too big a project for me. However, it didn’t seem like that, Tiihonen says in the book.
Tiihonen paid the invoices for the contract without thinking about it. However, he was amazed why nothing seemed to happen on the construction site. Tiihonen thought he had signed a fixed -price contract, but when he reviewed the contract, he noticed that this was an hourly work agreement.
– How can Satan’s stupid man be? At the point, the first time I paid attention to it, the money had already burned almost three times more than I had to pay for the whole contract, he says in the book.
– This was just the beginning. All the time, something cost more than it should, just because of the bad agreement. Who? For me.
The houses were put on sale shortly before they were completed. Tiihonen thought they would be selling quickly for a fishing price and that he would make a million euros account.
Tiihonen moved to his own Westend house in December 2020. He calculated that he was a debt of about four million euros for two beach apartments.
– I whipped myself very carefully. How had I been able to drive myself into this situation? And most of all, why? After all my career, I had to calm down and enjoy my more balanced life, but suddenly I was financially on the bridge.
Eventually, the houses went on sale when a person named Marko announced that they were buying them.
Tiihonen says he has been $ 300,000 in the shops instead of a million euros.
– Now, think that someone in the hell from Lahti is going to such an expensive big -risk construction project without any experience of construction. In total, I played for about eleven million euros in a couple of years. Too big risks and stakes for my own wealth.
Friends deceived trust
A house project is not the only investment that Tiihonen has gone financially. He also tells about the scam in the book. He was 300,000 as he invested in a mobile application.
Tiihonen had been training at a Töölö gym where he got to know its owner.
Tiihonen got the impression that the owner is wealthy. Tiihonen placed this at the application for the application for € 300,000, and if the idea did not go to produce, Tiihonen would return his investment at an annual interest rate of eight percent.
Jare Tiihonen is now dreaming of building a house on the island. Jenni Gästgivar
At first everything went as it should, but after the second year there was no money. Tiihonen’s eyes opened in some stags. A friend of Tiihonen asked what he knows that the gym owner has money.
– So. I haven’t felt myself as stupid as after this short conversation very often. How did I really know it? Nothing.
Tiihonen asked after his time, but the money was not received. In the end, he took the matter to court where the owner of the gym was found to be careless.
Tiihonen says he wanted to tell about the incident because nowadays he can handle things in a completely different way than as a young boy in Lahti. When he was younger, he would have just wanted to take revenge after the ego got a knock. Now he wanted to outsource his injustice by taking the matter to court. At the same time, Tiihonen wondered why he had acted as he had acted.
– I had been absolutely incredibly naive and restful. I made big decisions purely on the basis of what I had.
Attic project
A friend also failed Tiihonen’s confidence in another case. In 2014, Tiihonen had acquainted with a man named Linkku, and soon the duo became friends. Linkku and Tiihonen, who worked in the construction industry, got that if there was a single attic, it could be made into housing. Tiihonen would finance and Linkku would build.
A suitable destination was found on Pursimiehenkatu. Tiihonen invested EUR 2 million in the project and would win a million. Tiihonen took out a loan for the project.
The project started, and Tiihonen paid bills as they came. The loan was soon used but the project was still badly unfinished.
– When we got the accounts, it was a pretty shock. There were probably a thousand strips of paper. We scanned the papers for ourselves and started investigating the matter. I had no faith in my ears when our accountant went through all the bubbles found in the papers: quite straightforward pissing from non -existent working hours and some other materials ordered for another site and so on.
Tiihonen took the case and Linkku was sentenced to conditional imprisonment. Tiihonen received just over € 100,000 in compensation, and once the apartments were completed, he got his own back.
