Menem are a transgenerational phenomenon. They had their exposure in the 90s holidays with Carlos Saúl in the Casa Rosada and his brother Eduardo in the Senate, they were called silently in the 2000s, when the memory of a decade of corruption was returned against them, and now, a quarter of a century of abandoning power, sprout as fungi after the rain. This time is Menem’s second generation, which by age did not have a prominent role in the pizza era with champagne. They are Martín, Eduardo’s son and president of the Chamber of Deputiesand his cousin “Lule”, right hand of Karina Milei in the General Secretariat of the Presidency. There is also Sharif, Martín’s nephew and pampered child of Milei’s sister, and Adrián, another of Eduardo’s children who, although he lacks a formal charge, frequents the halls of the Casa Rosada.

The obvious problem is that this accumulation of Menem occurs in a government whose leader ensures that he came to fight the caste and banish the old vices and negotiated of politics. The plan could not go well. Almost for a genetic issue.

First were the complaints that indicated that the dependencies of the PAMI and ANSES In the interior of the country they were used as a political box of the libertarian candidates in each district, with employees who accused their superiors for the “tithes” that discounted them from their salaries. Then came the case of the tender for 4,000 million pesos that the National Bank granted to a signature of the Menem, Tech Securiy SRL. And now the audios of the coimas appear in which – once soup – “Lule” is accused as an alleged informal collector between the laboratories and Martín for his links with the Argentine Swiss drugstore, channeling of the alleged bribes.

In fact, both “lule” and Martín sound like the possible fuses to decompress the crisis of the Coimagate.

The big question, in any case, is why the president’s sister chose to surround himself with the new Menem to face government management, which falls on his back. Did you look for the “Know How” to collect on the left? Or did you really believe that second -generation Riojans could participate in political renewal that in public with greater effort – prists their brother Javier?

With Monday’s diary, it is clear that the Menem only brought problems to the Milei. And if a few months ago, when the successful series was released on the former president in Prime Video, the last name seemed to recover some cool resonance, the subsequent scandals returned the matter to zero. Today again, Capicúa surname appears related to corruption in the statelike when Martin, in his youth, hid it and used the maternal so that they did not point it out in public.

Being a Menem is no longer something cool. On the contrary, it is synonym for scandal.
