Ajax also sold attacker Bertrand Traoré to Sunderland after Brian Brobbey. The wing striker born in Burkina Faso still had a contract until the end of June 2026 with Ajax.
This season, Traoré was working on his second term in Amsterdam, after he appeared transfer -free from the Spanish Villarreal in the summer of 2024. He previously played in the 2016/2017 season as a mercenary of Chelsea for Ajax. In total, Traoré played 89 official matches for the first team of Ajax and scored 23 goals.
“Bertrand has made a valuable contribution to Ajax to reach the Champions League. When there was a chance to play in the Premier League again, we awarded him this step,” says technical director Alex Kroes.
