Ex-international before switching to Saudi Arabia

Julian Weigl has been playing for Borussia Mönchengladbach since 2022. But his time with the “foals” now ends-he joins a club in Saudi Arabia.

However, he was rarely able to build on his form from the years from Borussia Dortmund (2015 to 2020), in which he became a national player. The last time he was in the DFB team squad in March 2022, and Weigl was on the pitch six times in the German jersey.
For Gladbach, Weigl played 94 competitive games, scored 3 goals and prepared 6 more goals. An official confirmation of the transfer is still pending.
Weigl is replaced by Yannik Engelhardt, who borrowed the Borussia of Como in 1907. The defensive midfielder only switched from Fortuna Düsseldorf to the Italian first division team in the summer of 2024 for eight million euros. According to media reports, a purchase option should not exist.
“As a little boy, I dreamed of playing in the Bundesliga. I am very happy to be able to realize this dream at Borussia,” said the 24-year-old. In series A, Engelhardt played 26 games last season and scored a goal.
