The chapter Erik Ten Hag and Bayer Leverkusen has already ended. After only three competitive games, the trainer was released.
The new one BundesligaSeason is only two game days old, but at Bayer Leverkusen The house blessing is already wrong. The problems are apparently so big that it is not trusted trainer Erik ten Hag to solve them. Therefore, the club pulled the ripcord and separated from the Dutch on Monday. The “kicker” had previously reported about it. Accordingly, Ten Hag is said to have “smashed porcelain on several levels”.
The training work will temporarily take over the assistant coaching staff, Bayer said on his homepage. “This decision was not easy for us. Nobody wanted this step. But the past few weeks have shown that the establishment of a new and successful team cannot be designed in this line-up in this line-up,” said sports manager Simon Rolfes.
So far, no other club has released a coach that had only been signed in the summer in Bundesliga history. Ten HAG replaces Helmut Senekowitsch (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Heinz Elzner (1. FC Nürnberg), each of whom were in office.
Ten Hags bitter Bundesliga record
So far, Ten HAG has been responsible for three competitive games in Leverkusen, and a victory only jumped out in the DFB Cup against regional league Sonnenhof Großaspach (4-0). In the Bundesliga, Bayer remained significantly behind his expectations. The 1-2 defeat at home against Hoffenheim followed a 3: 3 at Werder Bremen. The Werkself had played a two-goal lead overnight.
“We have too many people who deal with other things or just with themselves. I don’t know if I have ever experienced it at Bayer,” complained captain Robert Andrich after the final whistle. When Andrich got the opportunity to wipe the coaching topic off the table in Bremen, he let her pass. When asked whether the players would only implement the instructions of Ten Hags incorrectly or whether they did not know what to do, said the German international: “It is a mix of both.”
He did not want to accept the XXL break at the runner-up as an excuse for the XXL slump in Bremen. “It has nothing to do with any unrest or with players or processes,” said Andrich. Rather, the existing staff must increase – in terms of playful quality, but also in terms of team unity.
Problems on and off the square
At Bayer there is obviously a lot in the Argen early – on and off the square. The trust between the team and the coach was missing. A sporting strategy, a game idea was not recognizable. Ten Hag’s hope was that after the international break at least the squad will finally be. “Everything is over on Tuesday. Then we know which players we have,” said Ten Hag.
In retrospect, it sounds like a premonition. Because not only is the transfer period, but also Ten Hag’s commitment to the runner -up. Now it will be shown whether another coach with the completely newly formed Bayer squad gets better.
