Quali thriller in Zandvoort: Piatri dupes teammates

Oscar Piatri has secured the pole position at the Netherlands Grand Prix. The McLaren pilot, which is leading in the World Cup ranking, drove the fastest time in qualifying on Saturday and starts with first place at the race on Sunday. Second in Zandvoort, Piatris teammate Lando Norris was ahead of world champion Max Verstappen (Red Bull). With 0.263 seconds behind, however, the Red Bull star had no chance of the first series-of all people in his home game.
With 1: 08.652 minutes, Piatri prevailed in front of Norris, was 0.012 seconds ahead of his British stable rival. In the event of ten outstanding races, Piatri only leads to Norris in the World Cup ranking with nine points. Defending champion Verstappen is already 97 points behind the Australian Piatri. The four -time Champion Verstappen had won the Grand Prix three times in a row in his home country until 2023, Norris prevailed in 2024.
In addition, in the previous free training sessions on Friday and Saturday, Norris always dominated, but now Piatri sat at the top.
