In the third round a leading group of eighteen riders, including Favero, the Dutchman Stijn Daemen (VolkerWessels) and German Felix Jochum (Lotto Kern-Haus PSD Bank). The peloton let go, so that the early flight was never caught again.
Favero chose his moment in the last three kilometers and drove convincingly away from his fellow refugees. Daemen sprinted to second place, for Jochum who completed the stage.
