A large meteorite is auctioned in the Netherlands today. The 240 kilo heavy debris, which arose about 4.5 billion years ago and landed in Namibia tens of thousands of years ago, is expected to be sold for 800,000 to 1 million euros. The proceeds go to the Mercury Observatory in Dordrecht, who needs the money for the construction of a new planetarium.
