It was only the second time that Rybakina and Raducanu played against each other. And again the ninth placed Rybakina in New York was the better of the two. She will open the fourth round on the US for the first time.
As a teenager, Raducanu managed to surprise everything and everyone by writing the US Open to her name in 2021. Since then she has had to deal with a huge relapse and she never really managed to meet high expectations again. A place in the fourth Tour of Wimbledon was her best performance after the final victory on the US Open.

The fourth -placed American Jessica Pegula also reached the fourth round. Last season’s losing finalist defeated the experienced Victoria Azarenka from Belarus: 6-1 7-5.
