Actor, Burgundian and … untrained cyclist. Frank Lammers will get on the bike again this weekend during the Tour der Unshaven legs. No competition, but a trip of about 105 kilometers from Lierop to Grashoek, Limburg and back. Together with professional riders, well -known people from Brabant and countless recreational cyclists, Frank takes on the challenge, this time entirely on character.
After six weeks of drinking wine in France I have not started training yet, Frank admits Ni Ni after Lammers, which he makes with Nina van den Broek. “But that doesn’t matter. It is not about who is the fastest, we will cross the line together.”
Understanding in Lierop
The Tour of Unshaven Legs has since become a household name in Lierop. The event was created more than ten years ago as a playful counterpart to serious cycling. No tightly shaved calves or shiny professional legs, but ordinary men and women who cycle for cosiness and for charity.
What started as a small -scale trip among friends, grew into an annual festival with hundreds of participants and a large audience along the route. This year there is cycling for the Klimop Foundation, which helps people to fully participate in daily life after an accident. Other well -known participants are Leo Alkemade and Rob Scheepers.
Many spectators expected
Anyone who wants to see the Mierlose actor abandon – or perhaps see strolling – only has to stand along the route. “The start is in Lierop. That is not that big, so people find us there by itself,” he laughs. Also in Grashoek and along the road, many spectators are traditionally gathering to make the spectacle.
Whether he finishes first, last or somewhere in between? It doesn’t matter to Frank. “It’s just fun. That’s what it’s all about.”
