Crip Stories brings art and stories from international artists together in a unique location. The name refers to the English ‘Cripple’ (lame), but mainly wants to show which strength and creativity are hiding behind vulnerability.
Curator Els Vermeersch explains: “We consciously do not use the word ‘outsider’. Because you do not belong to an outsider. We strongly believe in the artistic qualities of these people. Not everyone can just go to a gallery, so we want to make room where their work really comes into its own.”
