In the history of Argentine music there are names that build identity from a many times invisible: artistic production. This year, the Konex Foundation decided to focus on them and distinguish five figures that marked the last decade. Bizarrap, Juan Blas Caballero, Nico Cotton, Fabián “Tweeth” González and Lucy Patané They will receive this September 9, in the Konex Cultural City, the Merit Diploma in the artistic producing discipline. One will only rise with the platinum konex, maximum consecration of the category, within the framework of the delivery of the Konex 2025 Awards.

This award is enrolled in a tradition that every ten years recognizes the highlights of Argentine popular music, where figures such as Atahualpa Yupanqui, Mercedes Sosa and Horacio Salgán They were distinguished in previous editions.

Sound artisans. Bizarrap embodies the global phenomenon. With just 26 years, he became the most listened to Argentine producer in the world, owner of a creative laboratory that transformed collaborations into his own genre. His Music Sessions series made artists from different continents find in his study by Ramos Mejía a direct bridge to millions of listeners. With four Latin Grammy and three songs in the Global Spotify Top 1, it is the most international figure of the quintet.

The generational countercara contributes it Fabián “Tweeth” Gonzálezhistorical producer of Argentine rock and protagonist of albums that marked the local culture over fire. Of “turns” and “city of poor hearts” with Fito Páez “There we go” next to Gustavo Ceratiits route is a map parallel to the evolution of national rock. “The role of the producer is very similar to that of a film director,” he explains exclusively for news. With more than 140 discs produced, he says he does not seek to follow fashions: “I produce music, not genres. A good producer should be trained to work with any type of music. I am always looking for the perfect album, learning and listening to new genres and artists.”

In the middle of the generational arch appears Juan Blas Caballerowho since the 90s consolidated as an engineer of pop, rock and urban sound. He worked with Diego Torres, Miranda! and Fito Páezamong others. “This distinction has to do with the love of many people from the organization,” he says. “It is not a competition where the public votes, but the recognition of a jury. That comforts me, because I at least generated admiration and affection in those who chose me.” Remember its beginnings with the Argentine Hip Hop union, a project ahead of its time that led him to win a Latin Grammy in 2001, and also the work of the work of Abel Pintos “Dorado Dream”: “It went from being considered an interior artist to conquer Buenos Aires. That album had folklore with electronics, Drum and Bass. He was very avant -garde but popular. A hinge in his career and also in mine,” he closes.

New sensation. The new producers’ litter has Nico Cotton to an indisputable reference. With just 36 years, he accumulates 14 Latin Grammy nominations and collaborations with artists from Juanes and Natalia Lafourcade to María Becerra, Wos and knowing Russia. “An award does not assure you anything, the most important thing is still being able to work on what I like and try to enjoy it,” he says. On the role of the producer, it defines it as “a bridge between the artist and the final product. Sometimes the artist brings a closed proposal and others no. The work is that from an idea, a song or a finished album arises.”

The only woman among the distinguished is Lucy Patanéguitarist, composer and producer who from the unders built a unique language, both in his solo work and in productions for Julieta Venegas, Diego Frenkel and an emerging litter of artists. “It is a distinction for what has been done in the last ten years, and it comforts me that my work is recognized as a producer,” he prouds being on that list, although I would also like to see more women’s colleagues. Production is still a very dominated land by men, but little by little it opens. ” Patané insists that success should not be measured in reproductions: “For me it has to do with accompanying an artist to express his work in the most genuine way possible. The figure of the producer should be almost invisible. Recording an album implies immortalizing an idea, and the producer accompanies that process.”

On September 9, when the platinum konex is delivered, it will be defined who will be the name that is registered as the great producer of the decade. But perhaps the most important thing is already said, since they all achieve daily that Argentine music sounds worldwide.
